A Polite Word

Larry Adler - Of course, you know that a raconteur is a very polite word for liar.

1000 words one day, 11 words the next

It really do be that way sometimes.

I am committing the Jerry Sinfield practice of “Don’t Break the Chain”. He had a calendar on the wall for the whole year. Every day he would write, he would but a red “X”. The goal is to not break the chain of red “X”s. Stop making excuses. Write something. Even if it is just 11 words.

I modified this a bit. An “X” wasn’t enough for me. I wanted to quantify my days because not all writing days are created equal. I created a wall calendar that includes a space for me to include the word count for that day.

I also included a space to indicate if I was revising a previous work that day. After all, writing is rewriting. I don’t record the word count for revision days. I know that I can track the word count for revisions, but I just don’t want to. It’s my goal, I do want I want.

I also take a picture of the calendar each day.  I’m very visual. I want to have a record of the days passing at the end of the year in addition to the culmination of days in the completed poster.

Today’s word count? 208.
