October POD / Day 11 - Mike

Another day, another birthday party. My backyard and house was a whirlwind of a princess dresses and cupcakes as my daughter and her friend who were born on the same day, less than 12 hours apart, celebrated their 4th birthday. I had already posted a portrait of Charlotte on her actual birthday 2 days earlier, so I thought I would go a different direction today.

Mike was one of three fathers, including myself, who braved the onslaught of pink foam princess crowns and my little pony today. One mother noted "There was a whole bunch of Estrogen and a tiny bit testosterone." Mike stood in awe of the flurry of sprinkles and icing that was the cupcake decorating table. I can't say if his sunglasses were hiding fear in his eyes, but I think I saw him flinch when "More gumdrops!" filled the air.

October POD / Day 9 - Isobella

Saturday found us at a birthday party. A wonderful little girl named Eva turned five and we were happy to be a part of the celebration. Eva's little sister, Isobella, was in the midst of the cacophony of kids gathering up the spoils of the pinata. What is a more natural environment for a child that her sister's birthday party, surrounded by friends, family, and candy?

October POD / Day 8 - Me

Yeah, so for those who are paying attention, I did not post a portrait yesterday. As it turns out, falling asleep in your easy chair is not conducive to editing and posting a portrait.

So I am starting a new theme for the next set of pictures. The last set were leaned towards natural light (expect for Jonathan's basketball portrait). The theme for this next set with be portraits of people in their environment. I decided to test this theme with me, sitting at my desk in my classroom.  It's a start. We'll see where it goes from here.
